If you are a parent, I think that respect is right at the top of the list of things that you can teach your kids, and it’s the one that we most often teach by example without even realising it.

They notice how you talk to your spouse or significant other.

They notice how you talk to your friends.

They notice how you to talk to your immediate family members.

They notice how you treat strangers, especially people who work in the service industry.

They notice how you apologise if things get emotional and you end up disrespecting another person.

They notice the things that you say to yourself, such as your appearance or your body shape.

Above all I think respect is simply about kindness, to yourself and to others. If I could pick only one attribute for my children to be known for, it would be that they are kind people.
